Beautiful UK island where Prince William and Princess Kate took children on holiday
The Prince and Princess of Wales are known for their love of travel, with the couple often taking trips alongside their three children.
Kate and William love the island
The Prince and Princess of Wales have a favourite “pretty island” in the UK – and one that is often liked to the Caribbean.
Although known for their love of worldwide travel, the couple also enjoy trips a little closer to home – with one of their favourite destinations located just 28 miles off the Cornish coast.
The royal couple enjoy venturing out to the island of Tresco, which has often been dubbed “Mustique without the mosquitoes”.
It appears to be a perfect place for royals to escape to eagle-eyed media, with Prince William holidaying there as a child alongside his parents and younger brother in 1989.
The royals, however, no longer own the island as the lease was acquired by a wealthy philanthropist called Augustus Smith in 1834.

The quickest way to get to the island is via helicopter
Despite this, they do still own a property there – Dolphin House, which is part of Prince William’s Duchy of Cornwall.
Kate and William are known to have holidayed there in 2020, along with Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five.
Locals are reportedly known to be surprised at how down-to-earth the family appear and how well they blend in.
Some visitors say that they are “hardly noticed at first” and that, despite their status, they appear just like a “normal family”.

Tresco is likened to the Caribbean
Speaking to MailOnline, residents said: “William and Kate were smiling widely and looked really happy and relaxed.
“Their bodyguards had big smiles, too – it was clear to see that it had been a really good holiday.”
One source added: “Boat taxis known as Specials were organised for low-key scenic boat trips for the family to be privately taken to some of the wilder islands for bird watching and seeing dolphins.
“This island is part private so a bit like their favourite holiday destination Mustique, but without the mosquitoes.”

During their 2020 visit, it is not known whether the couple stayed at Dolphin House.
However, the six-bedroom home is available to be rented by the public for just £59 per person, per night.
The home is located on the island which doesn’t allow cars, with helicopters providing the quickest route to the island.
