The subtle ways Princess Kate has changed her hair over the summer

The Princess of Wales has turned heads recently with the changes she has made to her famous brunette locks.

Kate, Princess of Wales has been renowned for her glamour and timeless beauty ever since she joined the Royal Family more than a decade ago.

In that time, the world has watched her evolve and develop her classic British sense of style, which often extends to her hair and make-up, as Kate rarely opts for anything too controversial or unusual.

In her visit to High Down prison in Surrey on Tuesday, the Princess debuted a new hairstyle, thought to be created by stylist Natasha Archer, as she sported voluminous bouncy waves with side bangs and potentially some fresh caramel highlights.

While she may never shy too far away from her trademark dark brown light curls, it seems that for the warmer weather Kate is embracing a lighter tone in her hair.

Here Express.co.uk delves into how the future Queen’s hairstyle has evolved recently while maintaining her signature look.

Lighter tones

Kate’s lighter highlights were first spotted earlier this year, in July when she stepped out at the 2023 Royal Charity Polo Cup match to watch husband Prince William play and raise money for good causes.

Wearing a baby blue and white floral patterned dress by Beulah London, the Princess embraced the summer season with her “baby lights”, a more natural version of the classic blonde highlights.

It appears that Kate may have had honey-blonde, finely woven highlights placed throughout her locks to make them seem more vibrant.

The look is said to be popular with those with darker hair, as it subtly lightens the hair and frames the face without going for a dramatic change.

Middle parting

In picture from her visit this week Kate appeared to have adjusted the parting in her hair to sit right in the middle, whereas before she has been seen with it slightly off to one side.

This is probably the most subtle change she has made and one that would be easy enough to pull off at home, as her hairstyle is the most searched-for of all the royal locks.

The ‘Chelsea blow-dry’, made famous by Kate and her younger sister Pippa Middleton, can be achieved by brushing the hair through with an anti-bacterial, anti-static detangling brush, using a thickening spritz, then rough-drying it until it is 25 percent dry on low heat, according to hairstylists.

Bangs

Kate’s decision to add bangs to her look saw a flurry of praise on social media, as fans shared their views on the face-framing style.

On Instagram, @lauraeliza21_13 commented: “I love that she brought back the fringe bangs! She hasn’t had them in forever and I (a lover of bangs) think that they can be very framing for the face.”

Royal fan account @forkatemiddleton said: “This is one of my favorite looks of hers this year, her hair is impeccable, I love her with bangs!”

Curtain bangs are parted in the middle to frame your face, which may also explain why Kate’s parting seems to have changed.

Layers

The Princess is known for her volume and bouncy curls, however it is also possible to use extensions to create the same cascading layered effect.

Editorial director at RUSH salon Tina Farey told Express.co.uk what tips to follow to achieve Kate’s stunning look, with regular trims and weekly hair mask or treatment essential.

The expert also recommended visiting a salon every two to three months for professional hair treatment, as she claimed that the Princess “may have monthly hair tints or glossing services to keep her colour looking radiant and flawless”.
