Princess Kate’s secret meeting to make sure major royal event would run seamlessly

When her daughter Princess Charlotte was christened in 2015, Princess Kate was determined that the day would run perfectly.

Princess Charlotte was christened on a gorgeous day in July 2015, two months after her birth, with the occasion marking the first time Princess Kate and Prince William had appeared with Prince George and his little sister as a family of four.

The event took place at St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham, making Charlotte only the second royal to be christened there after Princess Eugenie.

Kate was dressed in a bespoke white Alexander McQueen coat dress and Jane Taylor hat and pushed her baby girl in a vintage ‘Millson’ Silver Cross pram that was also used for Prince Andrew and Prince Edward in the 1960s.

The occasion seemed to run without a hitch, however influencer Laura-Ann, aka @all.thats.pretty, who was staying at King Charles’s AirBnb not far away from the church, shared an insight on preparations for the day.

She said: “The Minister shared a story with me about Princess Charlotte’s christening.

She said: “The Minister shared a story with me about Princess Charlotte’s christening.

“He told me that the royal household came the day before [Princess Charlotte’s christening] to measure the gate access to the church (which is very narrow) to ensure that the Silver Cross pram Kate would push would fit through OK on the day.”

The family later expanded by one member, with Prince Louis’s birth in April 2018 making Kate and William parents to three little ones.

According to a PR expert the Prince and Princess of Wales very much have the balance right when it comes to raising their children in the royal spotlight.

Ed Coram-James told Express.co.uk: “There is no doubt that the presence of the children makes William and Kate more relatable, soft and likeable. The public is so used to seeing fractured, dysfunctional families on social media and in the media that, when they see a high-profile family living out the traditional idyll of a happy, harmonious life, it plays extremely well.

“Looking after a family is also very relatable in a way that being a Prince is not. It gives the public the opportunity to see the royals engaging in tasks (school runs, hand holding while crossing the road etc.) that they also do on a daily basis, allowing them to see a small bit of themselves in the royals.”

The expert added: “It’s a very, very careful balancing act, and the royal children are a key ingredient in that. On the flip side, you don’t want the children to play too big a part. They are children after all.

“Wheel them out in front of the cameras too often and it would appear exploitative. I think that William and Kate’s natural maternal and paternal instincts hit the perfect chord.

“It seems that, even without considering PR, they would strike the right balance based solely on their desire to protect their children’s privacy.”
