Princess Kate and William ‘have the balance right’ raising children in royal spotlight
EXCLUSIVE: Princess Kate and Prince William have three children together, and while it is sometimes necessary for them to appear in public the family also work to maintain their privacy.
Princess Kate and Prince William have been praised for striking the perfect balance when it comes to raising their children in the royal spotlight, according to a PR expert.
Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five, may still be children, but as future senior royals they have been somewhat exposed to the intense publicity that comes with being part of the Royal Family.
However, PR chief executive of Go Up Ed Coram-James believes the Prince and Princess of Wales have worked out how to let their children be children, while admitting that seeing them on royal visits makes the couple appear more “relatable”.
He told Express.co.uk: “There is no doubt that the presence of the children makes William and Kate more relatable, soft and likeable. The public is so used to seeing fractured, dysfunctional families on social media and in the media that, when they see a high-profile family living out the traditional idyll of a happy, harmonious life, it plays extremely well.
“Looking after a family is also very relatable in a way that being a Prince is not. It gives the public the opportunity to see the royals engaging in tasks (school runs, hand holding while crossing the road etc.) that they also do on a daily basis, allowing them to see a small bit of themselves in the royals.”

The Prince and Princess have a balancing act to strike as they raise their children
The expert added: “It’s a very, very careful balancing act, and the royal children are a key ingredient in that. On the flip side, you don’t want the children to play too big a part. They are children after all.
“Wheel them out in front of the cameras too often and it would appear exploitative. I think that William and Kate’s natural maternal and paternal instincts hit the perfect chord.
“It seems that, even without considering PR, they would strike the right balance based solely on their desire to protect their children’s privacy.”

The Wales children have to be presented at some royal occasions
George, Charlotte and Louis all currently attend Lambrook School, close to the family home at Adelaide Cottage, where the aim is to make them feel as normal as possible.
They do not use their royal titles at school but rather are known as the Wales children – George Wales, Charlotte Wales and Louis Wales – after their parents’ titles.
Before William inherited the Wales title his children were the Cambridges, to reflect his and Kate’s titles as Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
The children are not known by their royal titles at school
As the eldest George will soon be looking to move onto secondary school, and his father’s alma mater seems to be under consideration, as he was spotted on a tour of Eton with his parents earlier this year.
However when William and Prince Harry attended Eton it was viewed as a break with royal tradition, as King Charles and Prince Philip both attended Gordonstoun in Scotland.
Princess Kate went to co-educational Marlborough College, which had been considered a possible secondary school option for Charlotte, although it is some distance from the family home as the school is in Wiltshire.
