The 32-year-old is the son of the Sultan and his second wife, Hajah Miriam Abdul Aziz, and has two older sisters, Princess Fadzilah and Princess Azemah, who tied the knot in January 2022 and January 2023 respectively.

An official statement from the Bruneian royals said: “By the royal command of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah of Brunei Darussalam, the palace has announced the upcoming wedding of His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Mateen and Anisha Isa Kalebic will be held from 7 to 16 January 2024.”

Although it has not yet been confirmed that the Prince and Princess of Wales will attend, it seems likely, as the Sultan and Queen of Brunei attended William and Kate’s wedding in April 2011.

The Bruneian royal couple were also at the wedding of Crown Prince Hussein and Rajwa Al-Saif in the Jordanian capital Amman in June.

The wedding took place at the city’s Zahran Palace, the same location where King Abdullah II married his wife Queen Rania, and where the previous King Hussein also held his wedding.

Princess Kate in particular has a special connection to Jordan, as her family lived there for a number of years when she was a child due to her father Michael Middleton’s work.

The couple also brought their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis to Jordan for a family holiday in 2021.

For the wedding Kate looked exquisite in a blush pink long-sleeved Elie Saab gown, with intricate detailing on the cuffs and around her waistline.

The maxi dress was an appropriate and respectful choice for the ceremony held in the Muslim country, with Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi also invited to the wedding.
