The Prince and Princess of Wales have reportedly hired the BBC’s Call the Midwife producer as the director of their Royal Foundation.

Dame Pippa Harris will also be a director of the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund Trustee Company.

The 56-year-old is known for her huge success as a film and television producer, as well as producing various major Hollywood and popular television series with her company, Neal Street Productions.

Dame Pippa founded the co-company in 2003, alongside Sam Mendes and Caro Newling.

The new appointment was revealed by the Daily Mail’s Richard Eden.

Speaking to Mr Eden, one royal source said: “This is a big appointment.”

Dame Pippa is familiar to Prince William. She is chairperson of BAFTA – of which he is a patron.

Her co-founded company also produced the war film, 1917, which won two BAFTAs and a Golden Globe Award.

Neal Street Productions also produced Empire of Light, which was written and directed by Sam Mendes.

The company has also produced stage shows – including Shrek the Musical and the musical adaptation of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory.

The Royal Foundation was founded by the Prince and Princess of Wales in 2009. It is also the base for their solo projects, including Princess Kate’s early childhood work.

News of Dame Pippa’s appointment comes as William parted company with his Private Secretary earlier this month.

The Sunday Times reported that Jean-Christophe Gray is said to be on secondment from Whitehall and will leave the palace in spring 2024.

He was hired by William and Kate in 2021, having previously worked as a Treasury employee.
