Kate and William to make emotional pilgrimage to mark year anniversary of Queen’s death
On September 8, the Prince and Princess of Wales will lead tributes to the late Queen Elizabeth at St David's Cathedral.
During the poignant visit it is understood they will lead tributes to the late monarch, before visiting communities in the region as they return to royal work following their summer holiday.
Sources have told the Mirror that William will pay homage to his grandmother’s life and legacy but his message will also “look to the future”.
Although he will not directly address the cathedral’s congregation, William and Kate will be shown around ancient church in St David’s, which is also the smallest city in the UK.
A source said: “It will be an emotional day for all the Royal Family, as well as many people across Britain, recognising this date. But of course for others it will be just another day and life goes on.”

Royal insiders suggested that William and Kate wanted to mark the occasion in Wales, as they have only visited three times in the last year, since they gained their new titles.
Queen Elizabeth also had a strong connection with St David’s Cathedral, as since the early 14th century one of the Quire Stalls there has been in the possession of the Crown.
This stall is named the Sovereign’s Stall, with the late Queen holding the First Canon Cursal Stall in the Quire among the Cathedral Chapter, and she took her place there on some of her four visits to the Cathedral.

Queen Elizabeth was also the first monarch to visit the cathedral since the Reformation.
While in Wales the Prince and Princess are thought to be paying a visit to a coastal site attached to the company Notpla, whose headquarters in London William visited earlier this year.
Notpla won last year’s Earthshot Prize, and aims to reduce the harmful effects of plastic packaging by creating packaging from seaweed and plants.

King Charles will still be at Balmoral for the anniversary, where he will pay his own respects to his mother “quietly and privately.”
Prince Harry will also be in the UK on the eve of the occasion, as he is scheduled to appear at the Wellchild Awards on September 7 i London.
It is not expected that he will meet with his estranged family on that date, as he will be travelling on to Germany for the start of the Invictus Games, which kick off on September 9.
