Wally Kurth swept the General Hospital fandom by a storm when he casually mentioned on a podcast that Steve Burton will “be back on the show.” Steve was dismissed from the ABC soap during the COVID-19 crisis. Disney had put a company wide vaccine mandate at the time. However, Steve chose not to get the vaccine. Hence, was axed over non-compliance. But now, the mandate has been dropped, and the door is wide open for a comeback. Thankfully, the soap had left Jason’s exit open-ended.
He was presumed dead after a cave collapsed over him on General Hospital. However, his body was never recovered. And honestly we have seen people coming back from dead on Daytime with far weaker explanations! Besides, fans love Jason so much, that is return would mean everything! Any explanation would work. Moreover, this would be the perfect time for Jason to return to Port Charles for several reasons. Let’s take a look at them!
So Much Awaits Jason On General Hospital
Honestly, Sonny and his mob has not been the same ever since Jason faded away behind the rubbles of the cave on General Hospital. And now, with Sonny’s underworld stories heating up, it would be great to have Jason back. Because, as hard as Dex may try, he is too less to even be second fiddle to Jason on that department. He is great as Joss’ boy-toy, but not as Sonny’s second in command to run with the mobsters. Moreover, with this new threat of a mystery boss rising up, how thrilling would it be to see Sonny and Jason counter them side by side.
Taking a trip down memory lane, there are also a couple of romantic opening waiting for Jason, should he choose to return to General Hospital. Jason’s two most hyped romances were with Carly and Sam. While, Carly has since moved on with Drew, Sam is quite settles in her romantic life with Dante. However, fans often comment about how bland Sam and Dante appear together. There is an apparent lack of spark and chemistry between them. Something that Jason and Sam had in abundance.
Moreover, Sam has always held a torch for men with a “bad-body streak”, and we know Jason fits perfectly in that department! Back in 2020, General Hospital’s Co-Head Writer Chris Van Ethen had said in an interview that Sam and Jason will always love each other, they will always be in each other’s lives. However, at this moment Jason feels that it is for the best that he stays away from Sam. But a lot has changed since then.
