Brian Austin Green Gives Sad Update on Shannen Doherty’s Stage 4 Cancer & His Own Struggle: ‘Not an Easy Situation’

- He was one of the people from the cast that she told about her cancer diagnosis, and he has supported her over the years.
- Green recently shared a health update on Doherty’s condition and also revealed he had health issues, too.
“Beverly Hills 90210” stars Brian Austin Green and Shannen Doherty are going through difficult times because of health issues. Green recently provided an update on the Hollywood duo’s health battles.
The renowned actors have remained close friends throughout the years, and Doherty has even credited Green for standing by her amid her battle with a terminal illness.

She reportedly revealed to “Good Morning America” in 2020 that the “Desperate Housewives” alum helped her get through filming “BH90210” following her cancer diagnosis:
“I had moments of great anxiety where I thought, ‘I can’t really do this,’ and Brian was the one person of that group of people that knew, that I told pretty quickly.”

Doherty disclosed in June 2023 that her cancer spread to her brain, sharing a video of her undergoing radiation therapy on Instagram. She admitted she was scared while revealing she was “extremely claustrophobic.” Still, the television star maintained a positive outlook and thanked her doctors for their incredible work.
The Tennessee native was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. She revealed it was in remission two years later in 2017. However, Doherty disclosed in 2020 that her cancer had returned as stage four.

In February of that same year, her co-star Green spoke frankly about how she was holding up at the Annual Open Hearts Gala in Beverly Hills, saying:
“I don’t want to speak about her too much, but it’s a hard situation.”

The Los Angeles native acknowledged that dealing with the disease is difficult. Green stated difficult times only make people stronger, but only if they allow it – which is what Doherty was doing at the time.
He described her as a “good person,” adding she deserved all the good wishes and friendships she had. In July 2023, the TV star turned 50, and his longtime pal Doherty, 52, paid tribute to him with a sweet post on Instagram.

The showbiz star posted pictures of the pair having a good time with their other friend and co-star, Ian Ziering, who played Steve Sanders in “BH90210.”
Doherty and Green starred as Brenda Walsh and David Silver in the teen drama series from 1990 until 1994 alongside Tori Spelling. She left the show due to an alleged conflict on set, and he remained through 2000.
Green on Doherty’s Cancer Update & His Health Issues
In a recent interview, Green gave an update on Doherty’s condition and described her as being an “incredibly tough person” amid her battle with cancer, adding:
“If there’s anyone who could put up a real fight to cancer – she’s one of them. It’s not an easy situation, obviously.”

The “Knots Landing” star revealed he stays in constant contact with Doherty, who is making the best of her unfavorable situation. Green also opened up about his own health issues.
It all began with ulcerative colitis followed by vertigo, and then it turned neurological as he found himself uttering fewer words. Green lost his ability to talk and walk and could not read or write. He divulged that he could not work for four years. However, the star was not officially diagnosed and only hoped that he would get back to his usual self.
